Mikoshi is a portable shrine, to which the divine spirit is temporarily transferred to go around the town. The portable shrine parade is called “mikoshi togyo” and 3 large, 1 middle-sized and 9 small mikoshi go around and through to pray for prosperity of the town.

Large and middle-sized mikoshi are carried by adult men and small mikoshi are carried by junior high school students. The parade takes 6 hours to go throughout the town. During the parade, these mikoshi are shaken wildly, waving the shrine to increase its divine power; thus praying for a good harvest. The rampage is spectacular and local people enjoy it a lot.
